Accidents in enclosed spaces continue to cause serious injuries and fatalities on board ships. Accident analysis shows that failure to follow established procedures is one of the primary causes of such accident. Despite regulations being in place to control the risks associated with enclosed space operations, seafarers are still dying in enclosed space incidents.

Whether these setbacks are trivial or potentially life threatening, a person’s level of resilience can be the difference between a swift recovery and a catastrophic accident.
Seagull Maritime is pleased to announce that it has partnered with the private equity fund Oakley Capital (“Oakley”) that has acquired majority stakes in the business from our current shareholders, Herkules Private Equity Fund IV. In parallel with the process of ownership of Seagull, Oakley Capital have been able to facilitate and lead acquisition of Videotel, which has been part of the KVH Industries.
In recent years, Port State Control inspections have revealed a number of deficiencies with regards to ship emergency systems and the crew’s ability to use systems and procedures correctly in critical situations. As a response, Tokyo MoU has announced that they will have a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on Emergency Systems - jointly with their Paris MoU counterpart - from September 1st 2019 to November 30th 2019.
