Seagull Maritime is pleased to announce the release of 7 new CBT titles!

In Q4 2014 we released 7 new, 19 revised and 6 customer specific CBT titles  which are now added to our comprehensive library of Computer Based Training (CBT) modules, available onboard and online.

The 7 new CBT titles are as follows:

CBT # 0319 Periodic maintenance and inspection of lifting equipment (Offshore)

The aim of this CBT module is to introduce the learner to the basic requirements and recommendations that will enable them to perform periodic maintenance and inspection of lifting equipment according to regional (geographical) requirements, etc...

CBT # 0334 Deck safety for supply vessels (Offshore)

This is the first out of three offshore modules on deck safety. The aim of this module is to promote safety on the deck on a platform supply vessel.

The module covers, risks to personnel associated with loading or un-loading cargo, and safety on a mooring deck. After successful completion the learner will be aware of the risks and be able to take safeguards to prevent accidents from happening.

CBT # 0335 Deck safety for anchor handlers (Offshore)

This is the second out of three offshore modules on deck safety. The aim of this module is to promote safety on the deck of an anchor handler.

The module covers risks to personnel associated with loading, un-loading or working on anchoring equipment, and towing. After successful completion the learner will be aware of the risks and be able to take safeguards to prevent accidents from happening.

CBT # 0336 Back deck safety for seismic vessels (Offshore)

This is the final module out of three offshore modules on deck safety. The aim of this module is to promote safety on the deck of a deep seismic vessel.

The module covers risks to personnel involved with deploying, recovering and working on deep seismic equipment, as well as assisting on the mooring deck. After successful completion, the learner will be aware of the risks and be able to take safeguards to prevent accidents from happening.

CBT # 0343 Preparation for loading bulk carriers (Bulk)

This module is part of the Bulk series that will introduce bulk carrier topics to newly qualified OOWs or senior deck officers who have not sailed on dedicated bulk carriers. It will act as a refresher for Management level with previous bulk carrier experience.

The aim of this module is to describe the steps need to prepare the holds of a bulk carrier before loading: the cleaning, testing and maintenance required in the holds, ready to pass the pre-loading survey.

CBT # 0344 Loading bulk carriers (Bulk)

This module is part of the Bulk series that will introduce bulk carrier topics to newly qualified OOWs or senior deck officers who have not sailed on dedicated bulk carriers. It will act as a refresher for Management level with previous bulk carrier experience.

The aim of this module is to describe the procedure for the safe loading of a bulk carrier.

CBT # 0345 Hull structural strength (Bulk)

This module is part of the Bulk series that will introduce bulk carrier topics to newly qualified OOWs or senior deck officers who have not sailed on dedicated bulk carriers. It will act as a refresher for Management level with previous bulk carrier experience.

The aim of this module is to describe the factors that affect the structural strength of a bulk carrier’s hull: the forces acting on the hull, why bulk carriers are especially liable to structural problems and the correct use of the loading computer to prevent overloading and structural failures.
