There have been many deficiencies found in Port State Control Inspections with regards to the Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships. As a response, the Paris MOU has announced that they will have a concentrated inspection campaign on MARPOL Annex VI from September 1st to November 30th 2018.
Assisting customers in complying with MARPOL Annex VI requirements, Seagull Maritime has developed a new on-board training concept, preparing crew for the concentrated inspection campaign. This raises awareness of the most common defects found during inspections and offers advice on how to avoid them.
This new on-board training takes form as a Pocket Guide including a checklist that can be printed and assist in preparation of a Port State Control.
“This is a short, hands-on guide that assists crew and officers in staying compliant and prepared for Port State Control,” says Anders Brunvoll, Senior Course instructor at Seagull Maritime.
“We have delivered quality training on many topics related to CIC’s before. However, we want to focus the training even more to prepare crews in front of a PSC and make them aware of common defects so they can close any deficiencies well in advance of an inspection.”
