Produced by DNV GL, the Cyber Security Awareness training is set out to help seafarers identify and respond to cyber threats.
Ship operators are not doing enough to educate crew about the risks of cyber attacks or how to avoid them. This was made clear by a survey, which reported that 84% of respondents had either very limited or no training on cyber security. It is clear that shipping company employees, including their seafarers, are the front line of cyber security, which it is why it is so important to train them on the cyber threats and security implications.

The e-learning content developed by DNV GL and available through our Seagull Training Administrator both offline and online receives extremely positive feedback. The short and concise modules are easy to understand for crew and shore staff on all levels and can effortlessly be completed even on a tight working schedule.
With IMO looking at implementing cyber security as part of the ISM Code and OCIMF implementing element 13 on cyber security into TMSA 3 we strongly recommend ship-owners and managers to have crew not only completing the e-learning modules but also follow the procedures for our Distance course on Cyber Security Awareness.
