The aim of the module is to give all those involved the knowledge required to enable them to manage an offshore vessel inspection, carried out in accordance with the Common Marine Inspection Document (CMID).

The module describes the role of the International Maritime Contractors Association and their link to CMID. Further information is given on the contents of CMID, pre-inspection preparations and a typical vessel inspection. There is a section showing how CMID is used by companies, including charterers, and the benefits of the inspection process to a vessel and crew. An explanation is given of e-CMID, the electronic data base available to inspectors.
